Did someone play with you some time defence of Beyker, Nimtsovich or debut of Owen? Do not you know what is it?! But the defence of Alekhin certainly passed. These the defence considers and named as "little correct", "wrong" etc, but, clashing in practice, quite often remain without promised by common sense advantage.

...The book which speech will go here about (Khalifman A. Opening for white according to Anand 1.å4, volume 1 . - Spb.: Garde, 2004. - 280 p.) very curious on the structure and, undoubtedly, can not be taken to such a "literature". Strictly speaking, it can not be named a monograph in the generally accepted sense of word. It, perhaps, special genre which needs to tell more detailed about....
A few immodest subheading of this book ("ALL about attack, defence, counter-attack"), at once adjusted me in sceptical way and reminded the name of works of medieval authors as though "The complete vault of rules and exposure of all secrets of the ingenious game chess".
Autobiographies of outstanding Grand Masters of the past are very hard to find on the shelves of the modern bookstores. Many prominent chessmen nowadays lack time to create such comprehensive descriptions of their chess careers. Moreover, writing autobiographies is not a very profitable business. However, Viorel Bologan, a Moldavian-Moscow (as he calls himself) Grand Master contributed time, energy and most importantly desire to write a very interesting book "The Stages"...
